Introducing Diakrisis

Welcome readers and friends to Diakrisis, our new online journal, and the first devoted to the exciting field of cryptopatristics.

What is cryptopatristics? It is the study of neglected, obscure, and unclassifiable elements of the Church tradition, often highly interesting in themselves but which, for one reason or another, are incongruent with broader narratives extending to the present day. We think these elements have not only intrinsic interest but also serve to mitigate oversimplification and triumphalism in Orthodox Christian discourse today.

Our aim is to share with the public some highlights of the fascinating, awe-inspiring, and edifying discoveries being made every day in our field. To this end we will be enlisting the expertise of some of the best scholars of cryptopatristics. We will also post announcements regarding upcoming talks, seminars, and other relevant events.

We welcome questions and comments from readers, and, of course, the contributions of qualified scholars and students. Anyone with an interest in contributing stories is encouraged to contact us at antoniavernardakis@gmail.com.
